Art to me is expression. Ideas and feelings that I am unable to put into words are instead invested into my art. My emotions will oftentimes manifest themselves into my art. My pieces are just a reflection of my innermost thoughts and feelings. Art comes in many forms: visual art, 3-Dimensional, performing arts, film, and architecture. Whenever I am feeling a certain way, it shows through the subject of my piece. If I am making a piece that seems thoughtful and a little sad, it was based off of a bad day. My brighter pieces were made on happier days. Whatever emotions I feel too strongly are threads woven into my tapestry of creation. If I create with very little emotion in mind, my pieces take the direction of the music I listen to. The mood I surround myself with also has an effect on my art. The expression that goes into art also comes out of it. Looking at certain pieces of art can make someone feel a certain way. A painting is almost a small window into the soul of the painter. When I look at something that makes me feel, I know it’s art. To me, art is an expression of human emotion.
Design is the way line, texture, space, color, scale, typography, etc. all come together to bring unity to an object or space. Design is a daily part of life. From buildings, to pieces of art, to advertising on a shampoo bottle, design is all around us. Advertising relies heavily on design to make a successful product. When people see a design that they find pleasing, they are more inclined to buy it. When buildings have a certain design to them, it can enhance the function and the beauty of a space. Design enhances the experience of everyday life. It helps create balance, and can bring emotions and character into a space.
Kraft is a very delicious Mac & Cheese brand. Craft is using your skills. Craft is creating something to be proud of. The quality and craftsmanship put into work is what makes every piece of art special. Without craftsmanship, things lack personality. When an artist puts personality and quality into their work, it becomes an extension of them. Craft makes a piece of art unique. Quality goes with craftsmanship. By giving quality to your work through perfecting your own unique skills, your art will flourish. The work of exploring craft can never be finished; artists are always evolving, adapting, and getting creative. Craft is important to art because it will always be needed.
Creativity is fueled by knowledge, and knowledge can help push creativity in a new direction. We use what we know to create things outside of what we know. For example, Da Vinci was a great artist and an incredible inventor. His knowledge and his creativity pushed each other's limits. Another example is the Golden Ratio, a mathematical equation that divides things in nature into a perfect ratio that pleases the eye. Many classic artists have used this method to assist in composition. There is also creativity in sketching the fathomed knowledge of science. Things we cannot see, like black holes and atoms are sketched out and imagined. Creativity and knowledge share more than commonly thought.
